Home Prices Stable (Case-Shiller Report)

S&P Case-Shiller Home Price Index

The monthly Standard & Poor Case-Shiller Home Price Report was released yesterday, January 26th. We have been seeing some fluctuating housing data lately, and this report adds to the fuzzy picture as we head deeper into 2010.

Selected statements from the S&P press release:

  • “…U.S. home prices, show that the annual rates of decline of the 10-City and 20-City Composites continue to improve”
  • “While we continue to see broad improvement in home prices as measured by the annual rate, the latest data show a far more mixed picture when you look at other details.”
  • “On balance, while these data do show that home prices are far more stable than they were a year ago, there is no clear sign of a sustained, broad-based recovery.”
