Standard & Poor’s Case-Shiller Home Price Report was released yesterday for the month of September, which was the resulting end of 3Q 2009. The analysis from Standard & Poor’s seemed to focus on the continued strength of housing prices in the second and third quarter. A sustained run of six months of positive news for housing prices, and this is good news for our market. The facts for September are a little more muted, however. Because when we analyze the graphic at the left, we see that the housing price increases are slowing on a month-to-month basis. S&P’s analysis infers that this is the result of the hot summer real estate season heading into the relatively calm winter/holiday seasons.
